Tungnath Temple

Tungnath is the highest temple of Lord shiva in the world. It is 4km from Chopta and 2km below from Chandrashila in Rudraprayag district. It is one of the fifth and the highest panch Kedar temple.

It is believed that to be free from their sins after kurukshetra war with their relatives “kauravs”, pandavas prayed the Lord shiva in this place and build temple which is believed to be 1000 years old. In this temple hands of the Lord Shiva houses and prayed in that form.

Besides it’s profound divinity tungnath is all set to attract the visitors with its peacefully and fascinating surrounding. It is also the best place for trekking though the trekking route is covered with brawny stones but the greenery and marvelous view of highly embellished meandering pastures make ones trek unforgettable.

Chandrashila Temple

Chandrashila is located at a height of 4,000 meters above the sea level and 3km above the Tungnath temple, it is one of the place where Lord Rama meditated after defeating the demon-king Ravana.

Chandrashila is loacated at peak of the mountain and provides the spectacular view of Himalayas.This is the best place for the trekking.

Kartik swami Temple is located on the Rudraprayag-pokhri road, 38 km from Rudraprayag and can be reached by 3 km trek from Kanakchauri village.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva’s elder son Kartikeya. In this temple bones of the Kartikeya houses in the form of idol. As there is a legend that once Lord Shiva told their sons Lord Kartikeya and Lord Ganesha one of them will get the privilege to worship first who take round of the universe and comes first. In which Lord Ganesha wins through his intelligence and got privilege to worship first. By which Lord Kartikeya got angry and offered his bones to his father Lord Shiva as a testimony of his devotion toward him.

It is the best place for trekking and photography as the trek route is through the dense forest for about 3km from from village Kanakchauri. From kartik swami peak many peak places can be visualize like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Bandarpoonch, Dronagiri and many more places with majestic sunrise and sunset. This place is famous for its peaks and natural beauty.

Jwalpa Devi Temple

The temple lies on Pauri-Kotdwar road at a distance of 34 km from Pauri at the bank of river Nawalika. This temple is dedicated to goddess Durgha and it is famous for Navratri festival. It is enclosed by greenery, hills which give a lovely scenic surrounding. It is believed that whoever came here for her seeing goddess fulfill all their wishes.

The legend behind this is that here demon king Pulom’s daughter Sachi prayed goddess in order to marry Devraj indra and the goddess then appeared in the form of “Deeptimaan Jwalehwari” and fulfill her wish. Adi guru Shankarya visited here and prayed in this temple and goddess appeared to him. It is said that if unmarried girls came here then they also will be blessed with fine grooms just like Sachi.

It is also the best place for photography as greenery all around, mountains, bridge and river locate bloom on photo shoot. Besides this fishing can be done side by side on the bank of river Nawalika.

Chandrabadni temple is one of the shakti-peeth and one among the holy – triangle Kunjapuri, Surkanda devi and Chandrabadni temple in district of tehri garhwal, Uttarakhand. It is about 45 km from Srinagar garhwal, 22 km from Devprayag and 102 km from Narendra nagar. It lies on the border of Devprayag and Pratapnagar at a height of 2277 mtrs on Chandrabadni mountain which is also known as Chandrakoot. It is a holy shrine of goddess Sati. There is no idol of goddess Sati, Shree Yantra carved on a flat stone is being worshiped in the shrine.

The legend is that the Lord Shiva while carrying his wife Sati’s burned body unconsciously in his arms accidentally dropped the torso and her weapon got scattered all around. Thus even today large number of trishuls and some old statues can be seen lying around the revered temple of Chandrabadni. Devotees came here from far away places to worship goddess.

Chandrabadni temple is located at such a great height that it offers a bird’s eye view of green hills and Himalayan peaks capped with snow like Surkanda, Badrinath, Kedarnath.

For mild trekking this is the best place as 3km trek can be done from Jamnikhal and 1 km from taking stand.
